Well, we scoured the house every night with a black light and found nothing. We set scorpion traps and they remain empty (they are nothing more than glorified fly traps really). We started clearing out the remaining piles of packing paper in the garage and Anthony did find 4 dead baby scorpions.
We taped and patched up all holes in the house that they may have been entering through and tomorrow the exterminator is coming to fill in any gaps/holes on the outside of the house. They use a mesh material that the scorpions should not be able to penetrate over the weeper holes *. We also hired a new person to mow the lawn, trim etc. once a week instead of twice a month. This helps to keep the critters from taking up residence in our lawn. Ultimately, this is good progress and news.
However, we still shake our shoes before putting them on, check our beds before crawling in and flip on the lights before walking around at night.
* Weeper holes are small openings left in the outer wall of masonry construction as an outlet for water inside a building to move outside the wall and evaporate.
